(Greensboro, N.C) Feb. 26, 2007 - Algenon L. Cash, managing director of Wharton Gladden & Company, recently received recognition as one of this year's Triad Business Journal's "Top 40 Leaders under Forty." On February 22, Cash was recognized in a ceremony which honors individuals who have proven to be outstanding leaders within the business community.

Among his many recent accomplishments, Cash was appointed to the 2007 Board of Directors for the Piedmont Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).  NAIOP is comprised of developers, owners and professionals of commercial, industrial and mixed-use real estate, whose members strive to provide responsible, sustainable development that creates jobs. Cash will be directly responsible for working with the chair of the sponsorship and program committees as well assisting the president with creating more programming for young professionals.

NAIOP also selected Cash to speak at its Leadership Retreat in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 11-14, where he met with members of Congress to discuss issues relating to the commercial real estate industry.

 

Cash was appointed as a voting delegate on the Board of Directors for the Triad Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition, and Rotary International recently recognized Cash as a financial contributor to the Rotary Permanent Fund by naming him a Paul Harris Fellow.

 

In other news, Wharton Gladden announces that managing director Derrick Minor was named to Raleigh's Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors Board of Advisors, and will also be on the Board of Directors for the Triangle Community Coalition for 2007. The TCC promotes public policy that encourages a balance among economic growth, development, the environment, and community needs in the Triangle while still protecting the property rights of owners.

 

Other changes that have recently taken place at Wharton Gladden & Company:

  • Wharton Gladden has selected Winston-Salem based agency Wildfire as its new agency of record for marketing and public relations, and Inuva Information Management will now be responsible for loan processing and closings. Breslow Starling Frost in Greensboro will serve as Wharton Gladden's accounting firm of record.
  • Wharton Gladden has also finalized its Operating Committee members, which consist of:
  • Ross Cox, who will provide guidance on operations and systems.  Cox has 35 years experience in managing operations for a large corporation.
  • Ken Flynt, who has over 20 years banking experience that includes starting up and successfully selling a bank.
  • Keith Hiatt, who serves as the company's accountant from Breslow Starling Frost.
  • Derrick Minor, Managing Director for Wharton Gladden & Company, joined the company in 2004.  Previously Minor held positions with AT&T and has an extensive business background.
  • Katie Kenney, Account Manager from Wildfire, Wharton Gladden's agency of record.  Prior to joining Wildfire, Kenney's career included working for 3 different Fortune 50 corporations in marketing communications areas.
